Wiring Loom/Engine start up issues after 1.1 to VTR upgrade

  1. #1
    Hi all,
at the beginning of the summer me and some friends set about upgrading a 98 1.1 saxo to a 2002 VTR.
there have been a few issues i have come across and im wondering if anyone can help.

    1. we was sold an engine and loom believing it to be completed, however after splicing the chasis plug and fitting the engine/loom there are a few plugs that have no home.

this blue plug i dont have a clue about

I believe this green one is from the lambda sensor but the exhaust is not fitted yet.

this grey one comes off the PAS pump loom

blue/yellow ibelieveis supposed to fit a VTR alternator? but we only have a 1.1 atm

brown plug, haven't been able to identify.

can someone confirm my assumptions, and also tell me if i am missing part of the loom, i believe there is supposed to be another loom that links the blue plug, altenator negative and grey plug on the PAS loom, but i cant find a wiring diagram to confirm this.

    2. The engine doesn't start, i am putting this down to 2 possible reasons, 1 the missing part of the looms are preventing an electrical signal that is required, or 2 our "unlocked" ECU isnt actually unlocked. when the ignition is on the Immobiliser light stays solid, and the engine turns over but but does not start.

can someone tell me what a solid immoboliser light means, or if they believe i am missing an important part of the loom, though i am under the assumption that an engine can run without an alternator just can't charge the battery?

    Thanks in advance
    Sam

On picture holding brown lead looks like same as mine for front lights could be wrong but I have a fair amount of them on my 2003 VTS for lights at front of car.

and Q2 try taking the mobilizer box off under passengers side turn over and give some on fuel see it it turns over if not then this sounds more like wrong wiring loom for engine bay.

unplug brown one leave white in worked for me when I was fault finding when I had to do a full wiring loom change for car nightmare to do but was worth in long run.

Check this thread out http://www.saxperience.com/forum/sho...d.php?t=441413 Will guide you though all wiring looms as theirs a few different mk and by looks of this am only making guess here might be wrong mk for wiring loom fitting to conversion

    Thanks for the reply,

That brown one is identical to on that is plugged into the headlights, but that one come from the loom that is connected to the fuel relay, so i believe i do have the headlights wired up correctly.

I will attempt the immobiliser box when i next get over there, as it is not being kept where i live. I have previously read about this box and other pages suggest that this can reset an "unlocking" of the ECU do you know if this is true?

and thanks for the link, that was the original link i used, i probably should have mentioned that i have spliced a chassis plug for the new engine loom, so i am using the loom that was standard that come with the VTR engine. I just seem to be missing a part of it. I may have to make up a new section of the loom to replace the missing part but i need a wiring diagram really.

Thanks again, lets hope that its the black box

for unlocking is simple enough if get it right

plug the loom on the car, ignition on, disconnect battery followed by ecu.

And you have this guide for fully unlocking if you have other parts to do so too.
