VTS loom onto GTI

    As title, Was having wiring problems with my loom on my 106 GTI engine - So looked for a single plug loom, Found a VTS one with the same plug.

    the shell is a S1 106 XSI

    Researched and plenty of threads say if the loom plugs match up - it'll work

    So fitted it today - Some slight differences;

    New loom has all pins present on the plug - old loom had 5 missing

    New loom has wiring / 2 connectors to go into engine bay fuse box - old loom doesn't and already has wiring there so haven't swapped them - This seems most likely the problem

    Map sensor plug doesn't fit GTI old style plug - so changed the map sensor to a VTS one no biggy

    Everything else matched - Came to test it and when the ignition is on the starter motor spins.

    Any ideas that might help me on my day off will be appreciated

    Have you had a gander of tom5190 thread on looms with pics mate?

    Yeah the engine loom and chassis plug match up pal - but somethings not right, Someone on facebook suggested swapping the wires on the ignition barrel

    going to try and connect the wiring to the fuse box and see if it makes a difference

    If not, will try the barrel wires

    worse case scenario is i'll have to get my old loom repaired / tidied up and re fit that and sell this one on

    Not sure if this will help at all but just dug out my pics when i did my 16v conversion into my xsi.

    This is what i was left with to connect up







    So like you say i think your issue is with the fusebox

    Wish I could remake a loom like that haha.

    Will try a few things on my day off and report back
