Typical Saxo being weird

Right, hopefully someone will be able to help me out with my weirdly behaving saxo. I drove it to college today fine, and then it was all fine when I drove it at around 11am into town and back.

When I went to leave college to come home, the Saxo refused to start. The clock was displaying 1:00, and the orange key light aswell as the orange ECU light flashed when I turned the key, whilst there was a clicking sound from the engine bay. The interior light was working, but when I tried the headlights, that dimmed and went off, until I switched off the headlights. I had a previous problem with a dodgy connection to the +ve terminal on the battery, where the connector had come lose so I had no power. I took off the connector, and as expected the interior light/clock all went out, then I reconnected and they came back on again, showing that there was a connection as this didn't happen last time!

I tried to start it a couple of times with no luck, so we used a starter pack to get it going... I had a sketchy drive home, knowing that I was one stall away from a disaster! When I got home, I tried to start it again to see if it would and again, there was nothing!

So, what could this be? The cold weather, a broken alternator, an old battery or something else? My "dickheads" of my friends did start bouncing around on the rear of the car during the day, so I thought it could be an imobaliser problem, however if this was the case, surly it wouldn't have started at all?

Hope someone can help. I don't rely on the car as I can get to college on the bus or with a friend, but I would like my car back! Cheers

Simply a flat battery, its either not holding charge or the alternator isn't charging it..

    Okay cheers

I don't understand though, it was literally working fine this morning! I read online about trying a spare key to start it. When I done this, the orange key light stopped flashing, but it still didn't turn over.

as above, either shot or not getting a charge. Use a multimeter to find out or take it to halfords or other garage for a battery check

Replaced the battery today. Halfords one for £43 with 3yr guarantee

    Hopefully it's sorted

You'll find batteries often just drop off like a stone. The one in my VTR was perfect but if you stalled it not long after starting it would be dead, or if you didn't start it instantly. it had enough to crank the car and then it would run though!

after it died on me out in the middle of nowhere i replaced it and it was spot on until it was scrapped.

Yeah it was weird as it was driving absolutely fine in the morning! Maybe my struggle to keep up with a Lamborghini Gallardo killed it, but it was totally worth it, as watching it accelerate, hearing the V10 roar, then seeing flames spit from the exhaust on the down shifts was incredible.

Just need to try and find a new Positive Battery Lead, as the current one's connector is looking worse for where, the quick release design seems pretty flimsy.

Will check the scrappy at the weekend
