Winter - Cleaning My Car..

  1. #1
Well the rain is really affecting my car at the moment!!

Battery Light flickers like mad and there is a clicking noise from the fuse box causing the power steering to switch on and off but only for the first 5 minutes of running the car and thats every morning!

Charged my battery didn't work! Changed Batterys still does the same... I can't assume its the alternator because when I am driving the battery is alive and well after a mile and then it will be fine all day until next morning..
Deffiently the cold but maybe not?!

Also I am looking for these items to be bought seperate from the full kit yet I don't know the names or where I can find them..

Where can I find this pipe on its own seperate from the kit?

Where can I find this air filter cover? Does it have a special name? can it be bought seperate from the kit?

Also is there anything I can cover the battery with to keep it warm?

The reason I ask about the pipe and the cover is because I don't know the official names, So trying to find them online for buying is fustrating!

It's not a cover, its an enclosed air filter/induction kit. The filter is inside the scoop. It may be best to by a kit, as you can get the correct fitment for your car!

The clicking is probably a dodgy switch under the fusebox. I think it's one of the black square ones, they're a few £ from any motorfactors.

I'd be checking the wiring to and from the alternator and all the earth points. Could be a lose or broken wire causing all sorts of problems.

That induction kit is a Simota replica, available on eBay if you search for 106 enclosed induction kit, it should come with the 90 degree silicone pipe and a generic airfilter. Most people change the filter for a Green Cotton one.

Well I had a look at the kit and its £50! Deer prices that for an air filter! Only cost 10 for the k&n setup.. Sure they don't sell the pipe and the air enclosure seperate without the filter?

Use a multimeter to test the battery/alternator and sort the issues out before making plans on whatever air filter you don't need/can't afford.

What Manu said. Sort your problem first, an air filter will give you little to no benefit except for sound. It's a mighty 1124cc's, it isn't going to light the world on fire.

personally I wouldn't bother with an air filter, as said previously it will make no, to very little performance difference, just the sound of the car will change.

Get it running properly first, then look at the mods you want to do.

even if you can get the parts separately I doubt you'd see much change out of £50. why do you want new ones they look ok?

Sounds like you need new power steering relay, ive just had same fault on my vts.
New relay (grey) has done the trick...

The battery light on the dash is probably the alternator connection(at the alternator itself)Have a gander on ebay for the induction kit.http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CITROEN-SA...kAAOSwu4BVksBY
