Important! : Map sensor plug with pictures

Hi guys as most no I had trouble with the car losing power and having to rev to about 5-6k just to get the car to move, and sounding like a tank.

So after close inspection my map sensor wire was split, here's the old one after it was temporarily done until replacement one arrived.

So got another one but this one has a yellow wire not a white one like the original.

Car was running sweet as a nut but the problem has come back only when I first start the car then it goes by the time I get to the end of the street.

Could it be the different colour wire?

Steve - when I had the diagnostics done it bought up misfire on cylinder 1 and 4, coil pack fault and map sensor.

Changed all them with new spark plugs and then when we checked it afterwards there were no faults?

Will try it Steve, what you thinking???

I'm just thinking that you've cleared the fault codes, fitted new parts & now you just need the ecu to settle itself down.

Ah I see, is it worth unplugging the ecu as well as the battery overnight then Steve? Thanks

No just the battery, and it's only a theory and won't do any harm mate.

Ok Steve did the battery theory test and took the car out around 1hour later, car appeared to be running well and pulled very strong.
Started car this morning, problem started again but only for about 5 seconds on idle then didsapered.

I've noticed my car is idling at 1k rpm, should it not be around 750rpm?

Majority of saxo's idle around the 1k or just under mark it's normal.

Ah ok must be about right then lol.
Wiggled the map sensor wires about that's been soldered and cut the car out so re taped the 3 wires individually and made sure they won't touch again so will see what tomorrow bring upon start up.

Started car this morning all seemed well, drove all way to work without any issues right until I parked up then when car was idling it did it again but a very quick blast for around 3seconds then went on its own again.

It's probably not going to help much but after I changed my MAP and ICV for new ones my car ran like a bag of spanners. I cleaned the TPS and left the ECU unplugged overnight.
I read on here about resetting the TPS and ICV, I thought it would do no harm so I done the TPS reset (Key to 2nd click, WOT and release then start.), turned the car off immediately and done the 7 click ICV reset. I'm not sure which one of the above solved my issue, but it was gone afterward.

    That was my thinking too.

Although I took my car for a good scalp last night and it's messing about again. I might have to bite the bullet and buy a M-Magnetti MAP sensor.
