replacing thermostat

   Need to replace the thermostat on a renaut clio. Can the system be drained bye just removing the thermostat, rather than removing the bottom hose from the radiator? and if im quick hopefully wont lose too much coolant? Or would this cause a big mess and i just lose all the coolant?

   You won't lose it all like, but there's no need to drains the whole system!

   Thats alright then, im guessing ill just lose what ever is above the thermostat, from the engine block and head? only asking because i'm wondering weather to do it my self or take it somewhere.
