Has anyone tried to fix their sunroof in place and sealing it up completely? I was thinking if i take the mechanism out and weld it sup so it wont open and then when i put it back in replace all seals and then completely full up the gutter with black silicone. Would this work as i will never use it and still like the way it looks though? I would also take off the sunroof handle and filler in the hole and re spray it.

#5Is this to fix a leak? Cos, even after silicon sealing alllllllll the way around mine in a bid to stop it leaking....... it still leaked.
-
#6no its just to stop it in the future, so would i be best to just leave it as standard and replace the seals?
-
#7ive tried to seal mine aswell and it was a right pig used rtv silicone and guess what it still leaks.

#9The problem you'll have is that if the 'basin' for want of a better word at the top of the sunroof drains corrodes, theres not a lot you can do that will stop it from leaking - correct way to fix / prevent that would be to examine and repair if needed any corrosion at the top of the drains, and that's easier said than done.

#10Its a silly design as the drains in the sunroof cassette dont actually sit at the lowest point they are a few mm about so water can pool and start to rot the it away.
The drains are also poor and can get blocked easily.
Cut the rust out and weld in new metal or just fibreglass over it1 user thanked this post:
