Right il start off an apology for the read, and with this disaster of a story of a Quiksilver. This is my 5th frenchie so i have had most problems over the years, went to a converted quiksilver for my 2nd car 4 month after passing and that took piss to start with. Nothing on this one though.

Completley standard. I buy it miles from my house and sure enough on way home engine temp light blasted out and had to stop twice(didn't do it on test drive) got home and sorted it after bleeding coolant twice.

    2500 miles pass.

Ofcourse the engine just blows up on the a64 (engine didnt sound bad at all prior at any time) Blew a rod and was that. conversion time alot sooner than planned.

Have since 16 valved it twice.. as the first engine i got crank bearing went.. that engine cost me more aswell, but hey ho, had the same problems in the few week that engine ran as i do now, and more.

Situation is it sometimes idles at 1500/2000 can force it to idle properly by dipping clutch. I had that problem with old engine and fixed it with green coolant sensor, cannot seem to fix it with the exact same sensors on this engine.

Also after a few mins the car begins to splutter but putting foot down cleares it and it picks up again rapidly. If i leave it to idle after that breif fine running period it will cough and stall after maybe spluttering back up to 1000 revs.

Again i can rev it so it doesnt die and if the car decided it wanted to idle at 1500 it doesnt splutter out at all ( Even though if i was driving it would do and have to keep smoothly jabbing the throttle)

Weirdest thing is though is that restarting the car fixes it for near enough the exact same amount of time everytime (Before it starts to splutter again) so in effect i can avoid it by restarting car as soon as it happens (pulling over or doing it rolling it still sorts it out)

Dont know if the 2 problems are related but i had the 1st 16v engine running perfect barring just the 2nd spluttering issue and obv crank after a few week.

Dont get it because it runs perfectly its like its got a timer on when it wants to run like shit, and wants turning on again

Conversion iv done is 3 plug to single plug car is w reg crossover. I have spliced looms dealt with getting the fan to work with s1 gti rad and everything, iv done vtr conversions and everything this is my 3rd 16v

No idea how much id apprectiate any help and if you have even read this i thank you

not a problem with conversion has been borderline professionaly done my dads got a jaguar specialist garage i havnt done anything without those eyes/ears to hand. they just refuse diagnose a peugeot on its 3rd engine and constantly going back to square 1

It won't hurt to clean the idle control valve, guide on here.

thanks for reply, im gonna do that tomorrow i got a different throttle body with different sensors and that fixed it on first engine, and thats the one im using now so it probably needs a clean actually, it did work before though

the green coolant sensor revved it to 2k* this is only 1500 revs every time, realised i havnt described the problems best as i couldve, i had both problems and was hard to diagnose the problem, when it was actualy 2 sensors and i was consequently changing sensors about, coolant sensor is no longer an issue as it is new and engine runs perfectly when its not idling at 1500

spluttering issue main one though, i can live with the cruise control its the car deciding it doesnt wanna work properly anymore, literally restart car in the same laybys on the same 23 mile run and its getting ******* annoying, iv got 2 lots on sensors from both engines and doesnt work, starting to think ecu but how can it even go wrong like that

Is the engine management light on?
  8. #8
no its never come on, it works though as it comes on/goes off with ign/start up and i tested it with injector plug and it came on and went off when it went back on

when i plugged injector back in*
