New Tyres?

The saxo i have just purchased is fitted with Michelin Energy 165 65r14, would you replace them with like for like or is there a better alternative?
    Thanks

Michelin makes good quality tyres, they give good grip aka better traction and braking, fuel economy, low road noise and they also last longer. The only good equivalent in terms of value for money I can think of would be Kuhmo Solus KH17.

Now I have no idea of what you mean as a better alternative, as the michelins are good all rounders. If you want more grip as in a softer tyre, you will compromise on mpg and longevity which ends up costing more. But in that case, toyo tyres... If you still have some thread left, keep the michelins.

all that said, the michelins are only 41 per corner on here:

Thanks for your thoughts, i'm not a boy racer more of an old plodder so i'll go with the Michelins.

I was wondering, as some like more grip. You cannot go wrong with the michelins indeed.

Everyone seems to be pushing the Kumho tyres around my local area, any thoughts on these?
    Thanks

They're fine i've had them on mine, what i'd call budget tyres.

If they're Ecstas the Khumo will be terrible

Best quality in their price bracket. In the link I posted above, the KH27 is 30 per corner. Though the michelins will last longer.

Having driven on kuhmos, I was mostly impressed by the road noise and wet grip.
