    I used this type:

Used on the boot floor (no seats fitted) and it massively reduced the road noise, any questions the seller is very helpful, would recommend it.

I used silent coat on the civic a full 12kg of the stuff and it works brilliant

I got a cherry bomb on my 1.4, had nothing in the boot and it drove me bonkers. So I glued carpet to the arches/sides of boot, got a thick sheet of cardboard and more carpet and put that on the boot floor. Re glued the original thin carpet that was in there on top of the carpet to make it look tidy and fair play it worked pretty good. Didn't make the noise go completely but I'd say it's a 60% reduction in noise at least!
