Handbrake light help please

So Since I got my GTI I've had the handbrake light on!

checked the switch, there wasn't one. Easy fix I thought, put a new switch in. Didn't cure it, had another I tried to make sure it wasn't the switch faulty. Still nothing. So I relocated the earth for the switch wiring to see if this helped, again no luck!

Last thing I can think is that there may be a brake in the wiring from the dials to the switch... So my question is, does anyone know which wire it is from the dial? I have digi dials btw.

    TIA.

If there is no switch then it's not that part of the circuit that is faulty, the circuit works by putting an earth onto the circuit to bring the light on, so if it is disconnected & insulated that the light should not be on. You need to look elsewhere for the fault, do you have enough brake fluid as it's not actually a handbrake light, it's a brake fluid low warning light that uses the handbrake as a telltale light test.

Learn something new every day! Brake fluid is topped up yes as just rebled the brakes! Needs sorting for MOT tho :/

There is a connector on the reservoir on the brake M/C what happens if you disconnect that?

Not sure I'll try it and see what happens, is that the one that goes to the reservoir?

Yes down the side if I remember correctly, if you disconnect that & the light goes off then the fault is likely to be inside the reservoir if as you say the fluid level is correct, however if it stays on it must be the wiring picking an earth up somewhere.
