266mm, worth the upgrade?

  1. #1
Obviously we all know the standard VTS braking setup is pretty, well shit. I had almost bought a 266mm setup a few times previously, but it's got me thinking (this is a bad thing).

With buying the setup, and then wanting to refresh the pads and discs on top, new fluid etc it's going to set me back around £150+. What are my options if I stick with the standard setup, buy splash out on the pads? I've heard people mention previously that a good pad setup on the standard calipers is suffice enough.

To note, it'll be for fast road/the occasional track day, I'm no die hard enthusiast.

Good pads and discs will do you, but I rate the 266 set up. Enough with out going overkill joe, but callipers, pads discs and lines will mount the costs up!

I've just gone up to 283mm disc, callipers came from a 307 HDi cost £25 pair 2nd hand, discs, £36 pair new & pads I think were £15 only putting standard pads on for now, will go for Yellow pads later. Can't road test as it's a track car, but I did just go up the road to turn it round & all felt really good, I was expecting a slightly longer pdel but if it is then it's not obvious.

I think I'll try and source a good set then. Josh has some 266mm Calipers for me, but it'll need a rebuild kit, new lines, fluid, discs and pads. I see a fair few going for £50 etc on the Facebook groups, have to take a browse!

I like the 266,wouldn't go back to standard and they are just with OEM equivalent pads and disc.

Keep an eye on Fleecebay, work out from the registration number & eurocarparts which callipers & discs are fitted to people breaking standard 206, 307, 308, Picasso's basically any of the Citroen/Peugeot range, don't let the FB children con you into thinking they have something special

    I've run all all 3 (standard, 266, 283) and 406 Brembos.
283's were by far the best. I even had the larger MC from the 306 but didn't need it really.
I've currently got 266's on the shed I've currently got, but have set of 283's waiting until the pads and discs have gone. You do need slightly longer flexi hoses for 283, but they're worth it.

283mm are made out of dark matter!

266 will be enough for you fella, and some DS2500 pads

Standard 247mm and clrc5+ will be plenty for a track car.

Carbon loraine pads available from kamracing.co.uk

That's what I had previously heard about Stew. I've witnessed a mates Clio 182 on standard discs/Calipers with CL pads, phenomenal.

Running oem discs or 2 piece? I assumed you had 266 / 283 tbh

I managed to warp oem spec discs with mintex 1155 at the ring
