IM axle Warranty?

  1. #1
My rear axle bearings have failed on my refurbished axle unfortunately which I wasn't very happy about but I thought no worries it will be fine as its still well within the 2yr warranty from IM axle's

I emailed them on Monday bearing in mind its now Thursday and all I've gotten out of them is its been passed on to a mechanic, that was yesterday and I haven't heard from them today.

Have any of you had experience with using the warranty and what kind of service did you get? I really don't see how its taken them 4 days and I still have no solution? I have told them whats wrong with the axle and obviously it needs replacing.

Did you ever take apart the axle yourself? Otherwise it's quite worrying how an axle completely refurbished fail after so little time,I seriously start wondering about the quality of the parts they use as this is one of other several cases I've read so far.

Sorry not helpful in any way but just curious about their services.

No I've never touched this axle other than to bolt it up to the car I bought it already lowered by 50mm and stuck it straight on to the car.

Why didn't you just phone them up, and have it sorted there and then? I hadn't even been asked for proof previously, they were prepared to organise a replacement asap.

I will be phoning them tomorrow as I have had no contact again about it. It shouldn't really make a difference if its by phone or by email though really they've taken my invoice ID and know I have warranty so in my opinion the replacement should already be on its way.

Speaking with them directly gets things done quicker, it always will. On a side note, they do cheap out on parts.

Hopefully, I will see how I get on with them over the phone, I have noticed the rubbers have started perishing already which doesn't exactly seem too great.

If they still proceed to not 'get back to you', you could always threaten them, or simply make it known that you are offended by the poor customer service.

I feel like I've given them plenty of time to come to a decision and I haven't been unreasonable about it but lets face it we all know the axle needs to be replaced if the bearings are bad it doesn't take an expert to decide what needs to be done or that amount of time.

I don't really want to go down the route of "threatening" them I just want them to honour the two year warranty that was promised upon purchase.

I prefer to build my own axels, least mine last around 7 years..
    and don't cost the earth.

Just thought i'd update this, the problem is now "resolved" I can't say I'm overly happy with the customer service but they are going to send out a replacement axle this week. I'm not sure I would use them again in the future and if I do need another axle I will likely look into rebuilding it myself providing I can find somewhere to press the pins or find a method to replace them.

Thanks for the update, as this is something which no doubt I'll end up having to get replaced at some point its good to know what these guys are like!
