106 gti speedo not working in VTR

   Hi guys I have a 99 VTR and the speedo was sticking so I've replaced them with 106 GTI dials from the same year car. everything works fine apart from the speedo. Is the wiring the same or is there a wire I have to change.

   Check the speed sensor on the gearbox mate.

   Ive had a look all seems fine the old speedo was working before the clocks were removed
