Cluster gauge lights not working

   I bought my mk2 saxo vts the other day and noticed when I turn the lights on none of the instruments light up inside the car giving the green glow behind the dials etc for night time driving.what could it be?

   Underneath the steering column is a little thumbwheel that you move to adjust the instrument brightness.
