16v conversion misfire

  1. #1
Posting this on behalf of a mate. Quicksilver with 16v conversion had issue with fuel pump it wouldn't prime, run it off 12v on a switch and now that works however the car misfires and doesn't rev crisply, once the car warms up its even worse undriveable almost

    Tried brand new coil pack
    Injectors
    Map sensor
    Cleaned all earths
Crank sensor (was one of mine and was working when removed so shouldn't be that)

It's really frustrating as its due on track Tuesday! please excuse if this makes no sense birthday tomorrow and had a few drinks tonight!

Also the fuel pump is 1.4, does that matter?

Yeah get a 1.6 pump in there

Okay thanks well the loom we think is wrong, as read about that before causing fuel pump not to run, so we switched it off 12v so it now runs, however could this cause the misfire as the wiring for the pin layout may be different making certain sensors redundant as they don't match up on the pins so say for example fuel pump male to fuel pump female may have map sensor male to fuel pump female and making the car run poorly or is this not the case?

Car starts and runs but it idles poorly and revs very slowly and hesitant, doesn't sound like a cylinder is down but really doesn't sound great, engine was rebuilt before conversion. compression is high etc so engine should be spot on. Really frustrating this cars due on track in 48hours!

    Lash a 16v loom in

It is a 16v loom but it's a 97 loom, and apparently need 99 loom although we was told it was a 99 loom it isn't

    Fixed

Turns out crank sensor had caught the flywheel due to not being installed correctly and mashed it up a little, obviously effecting the spark. New sensor in, she's running spot on thankyou to all
