Oil comsumption.

   Hi folks.
   
   Would a litre of oil every 1k miles sound excessive?Just recently ie the last 2mths on acceleration the saxo rattles & I get a slight oily smell.No smokey exhaust etc,it's 125k.

   That's just it Manu,no visible signs of oil leaking anywhere.

   Hmmm in that case I would think of piston rings maybe?

   If that's the case it'll be bye bye saxo,as i'm not rebuilding the engine or having a garage do.It would not be worth it.

   Do a compression test, and indeed an engine swap would be better in that case

   I've an idea I may have found the problem,I can see fresh oil around the top of the air box where the pipes go onto it.So my first guess is blocked crank case ventilation pipe/s.
