Rattling noise

   My vtr has developed a metallic rattle noise when a let off the accelerator. It sounds like it's coming from the bottom of the engine / underside of the car. At first I thought it could be the release bearing on the clutch as that was slipping, but I've had a new clutch over the weekend and the noise is still there.
   
   Any ideas where to start looking? I'm going to try and get it on the ramps this week some time
   
   Any help appreciated

   Loose heatshield on the exhaust?

   I'm fairly sure its not a heat shield, .
   
   the engine in general sounds a bit naff when accelerating but the noise is heard more when letting off the accelerator, sounds kind of like a ball bearing rattling around in a can (that's as close as i can describe it anyway)

   Maybe the tappets need adjusting?

   If your car has a catalytic converter, it may be the monolith inside rattling around.
