So my air con has been rubbish recently, had it regarded a few times and services but it's made no difference. It blows cold air but not as cold as when I first had the car. No leaks or anything either. However I notice the Condencer at the bottom has lots of stone chips in it, lots of stones and insects stuck in it... Could this be my problem? Thanks

#5start by getting a recharge +change the pollen filter can you see clutch engaging on pump when you turn it on --if not then prob low pressure in system
-
#7If you have had it regassed properly they should have injected a green dye. If the system is leaking have a look for green dye using a UV light. Mostly is the air con radiator that leaks due to stone chips etc.
Open the bonnet with the car running and turn the aircon on, you should hear a click as the pump starts working. if not then the system has a fault. it maybe because it is low on gas, in which case you have a leak.
avoid topping up with a compressed can as this is not how it should be done. A proper job includes a machine that takes any remaining gas out the system before doing a vacuum test and putting the correct amount of new gas back in -
#8So as I said, I've had it regassed a few times "air con service" using a proper machine, tested for leaks... You can hear the compressor click on and off.... It's blows cold air just not as cold as it use to. I have to have it on full blast with vents aiming at me to get freezing cold. They did say the condenser at the front where the radiator is will need replacing eventually as you can see all the stone chips and damage at the bottom half of it... So maybe that's the problem? If air flow is restricted slightly ?

#9How has it been tested for leaks?
straight after it has been serviced and regassed, are you happy with it?
You should get a print out from the machine to tell you how much gas was removed and how much was put back in. -
#10Well I just went for it, new Condencer (only £78 from Ecp) and its 100% made that difference! I can now freeze in 30 degrees heat.... Even though winters now on the way ..

#11It's useful in winter to get a quick demister, as it blows dry air. Use it once in a while, as aircon degrades and leaks when not used.
