Brake Pressure Regulator Help

  1. #1
    Morning,

In the process of preparing a track day VTR. Went for MOT on Saturday and failed due to the service brake not working correctly and rear brakes recording little or no effort. Having done some research it seems these faults can be associated with the brake pressure regulator being faulty or incorrectly set up.

Having replaced the rear beam I replaced the regulator at the same time. I am now questioning if I have the incorrect part because it doesn't have the large spring that connects to the trailing arm. Do I need to drill a hole on the new part and fit the old spring?

    How the old part looked

    New part

    Thanks in advance

my guess is you have lowered car and not reset the limter correctly
an yway best idea is dump it --repipe to use an adjustable bias valve so you can set up braking ballance correctly

OK, thanks for the info. Have fitted brand new brake pipes all round so will give the standard valve one last try before ripping it out and replacing.

Are you sure you connected the brake lines to the correct outlets?

iirc one is m10 and one M12 so you can't get it wrong.

if you have a friendly tester you could pop it on the rollers and tweak the valve to suit.

Brake lines are on correct outlets. Surely it doesn't matter anyway as isn't the pressure the same to both calipers?

Have tweaked the valve over the weekend. Certainly applying more pressure now, hopefully not too much though.
