Saxo VTS drag power

  1. #1
    Hi,

I've just extracted power curve from my saxo and what wonders me is the losses curve. It looks like losses are ~55hp and peak power (135hp). Is this value normal? Or is there something wrong in the drivetrain. Here are the dyno curves http://www.imagebam.com/image/248e8d506701403

    Any hits?

    Cheers

std saxo vts 120bhp --normally shows around 90-95 @wheels if tested in 4th gear and everything correct
if you car is std then the 135bhp is not correct --maybe 125 bhp --no more

maybe the dyno is tuned up !!

My saxo has modified exhaust + simota inlet. So the engine potentially can have additional hp. Even though, it shows 80hp at wheels @ max power engine speed, which is lower them std saxo.

More to factor in such as,mileage on the engine how often has the engine been serviced? All of these will have an effect on performance, most engines lose bhp over time.

quite common to see odd high losses on a double roller type rolling road.

Camber, toe, tyre width, tyre profile, tread style, tyre construction, road speed and transmission temperature all affect transmission losses.

As you can see the losses increase exponentially with respect to speed, so if the run wa done in 5th gear the losses are pretty normal for 140mph ish.
