Rust inside rear beams

  1. #1
Hello, I'm trying to derust the underside of the saxo as much as possible but when I took off the rear axle I have noticed that there is rust inside the beams where the rear axle bolts on if you know what I mean.. where you pull the caps off to access the bolts to undo the axle.

They are still pretty solid its just like a bit of surface rust and flaking paint but i'm wondering if there is any way I can treat this and stop it getting worse? obviously its very difficult to get inside with anything mechanical to clean it up so i'm a bit unsure what to do and like I say its not bad enough to warrant cutting it out anytime soon as its still solid.

Any suggestions would be good, cheers.

Paint some phospheric acid onto it.

I guess I can do that but it's still gonna need covering and I'm wondering if cavity wax would be enough to stop it progressing

corrosion inside rear axle beam is an indication that the sealing arrangments on the radius arms is not good ----dinitrol or what ever will stop any more corrosion --but as the beam is very thick doubt it would ever be a problem .
however if water is getting in then it will cause premature wear to radius arm bearings and corrosion of area where they run--that would be more of a worry

Hi im talking about the box section on the chassis of the car not the rear axle, sorry probably my fault as I wasn't sure the proper name of it.
