Speakers

Would a normal Coxial speaker fit in the back or would it mean the grill wouldn't fit back on?

Anything the wrong size will not fit. This rule applies to any parts. Also the back is interior trim, not a grill.

No point really in upgrading the rears.

So do I have to take the hole side panel out to remove the speakers?

Unless you're going for SQ and not SPL you won't really require a set of mids. A good coax set-up in the front with properly mounted tweeters and a small sub & amp in the boot is ample. I ran an RE XXX 10" and 1200w RMS Genesis monoblock amp with Focal 2 way components up front in my mini around 10 years ago (Fuck, I'm old...)

I remember trying it out for the first time after getting it set up on a few HZ drops and it made the roof flex and wave then popped the back window out of its rubbers lol.

Agreed, back in the day I left them in and redirected the wires to the parcel shelf, put some 2x 10" goodness in there with infinity tweeters...

It's easy actually, start from the pillar with a fork and unclip it. Be aware that you may break a few clips in the process. (easily replaced)
