Saxo not starting after a year in the garage

   I have just took my trusty little saxo 1.1 desire out of storage as I will be shipping it to South Africa for a rally this year. I put on a fully charged battery but when I tried to start her up I just get a very painful squeaking from what I think is the starter motor, it sounds a bit like the battery is flat which it is not. Also tried a battery off my van which I know is ok and the same thing.
   
   Any ideas

   Try tapping the solinoid on the starter as some one tries to start it.

   seized alternator. i had the same tonight, thought it was the battery. swapped but still the same so thought stiff starter, changed that, same! got a tow and belt snapped as soon as it fired. then started fine, no sluggish starter. it was the seized alt gripping the belt and stopping it turning over freely!!!
