Seems my engine mounts keep going on my VTS. I assume this is somewhat common as is lowered also. Should I invest in some polyurethane mounts ? Hoping this will solve the issue.

#2Nope engine mounts shouldn't be affected by lowering no extra stress is put on them from lowering the car, mine was -60 and had no problems apart from the bolt snapping on the left hand top mount but that's a common problem.Quote:Seems my engine mounts keep going on my VTS. Polyurethane mounts will give you extra vibrations through the chassis and may not solve the issue.
What make and price range are the mounts you have been fitting and what material are they made out of.
The only upgrade in terms of engine mounts I would be happy to do would be to fit the full set of vibra-technics but even then you will get some vibrations over standard. -
#3To the op has your car been in a crash?
-
#4I'm not sure as the garage had been fitting. I think it is just the bolt that had been going but how to solve this ? Garage seemed to think a leak was contaminating the mountQuote:Nope engine mounts shouldn't be affected by lowering no extra stress is put on them from lowering the car, mine was -60 and had no problems apart from the bolt snapping on the left hand top mount but that's a common problem.

#7What im gonna do I think is order and get fitted three polyurethane mounts at same time and see if that solves the issue of it going
-
#8Would a strut bar help maybe stabilise it too ?

#9I personally think it's the bolt cracking / shearing constantly that causes the vibrations. But surely that's a sign of a insecure mount anyway and how else would you solve that except getting new mounts ?Quote:Nope engine mounts shouldn't be affected by lowering no extra stress is put on them from lowering the car, mine was -60 and had no problems apart from the bolt snapping on the left hand top mount but that's a common problem.

#10Nope could be anything from a cheap bolt to the engine misalignment causing excessive stress on the mount.Quote:I personally think it's the bolt cracking / shearing constantly that causes the vibrations. A crash will also cause excessive wear on the mounts as they are always pre stressed from
misalignment the mount has to be pre stressed to get it to fit.
strut brace or a engine strut? A engine strut with a damper would help with engine movement but not going to solve the problem, will most likely just mask it. -
#11Don't recall having a crash. This is what I'm looking at buying right now and fitting http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm?itemId=222320629063&kmsi=trueQuote:Nope could be anything from a cheap bolt to the engine misalignment causing excessive stress on the mount.

#12They are very good mounts, but they do send a massive amount of vibration through the chassis.1 user thanked this post:

#13Although the mechanic im using told me I should change all three mounts. I can never seem to get a clear answer out of mechanics , stresses me out.
-
#14Will the vibration cause other issues ? Right now my main focus is just stop my mounts breaking every other month. Is there three mounts in that 179 pound set?
-
#16An out of alignment chassis, can put stress on components.
-
#17My seat was clicking not long ago and it was to do with it needing re welding to the chassis. Could it be another sign of it not aligned properly ? How would you re align it ?
-
#18That sounds like an incredibly experienced and expensive job ...

#21No one can tell you if it will solve the issue we can only give advise. To me if your mount keeps going every couple of months there is something wrong elsewhere.
-
#22Open to any other thoughts and suggestions before I purchase these mounts
-
#23Could it be my rear axel ? Garage also said that had large play in it and I should get a new rear axle fitted but purchase one online ?
-
#24In the rear axle bearings *

#25What's the real difference between my original linked mount, http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/Citroen-Saxo....c100408.m2460
this one and also
http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/Citroen-Saxo....c100408.m2460
This.
Aside from the obvious price difference. -
#26One is a single unit and the other is the full kit and bottom arm bushes too.

#27Thanks both for all your help today
