Door wont lock - out of options

    Right brief background info
    I have a VTR and a VTS

The door on the VTS is fucked where someone has tried prying off the lock, as such handles don't unlock it, key doesn't unlock it, have to use a screwdriver inside the door card to move the latch.
Door is a write off, given up the idea of using it.

VTR had two perfectly functional doors, one of which I intended to use as a replacement for the broken VTS door.

Took the lock out of the VTS door, fitted to the VTR door, tested and fully operational, removed the lock to put indoors for safekeeping until I swap the doors over.

Came to swapping the doors - tested a few times locking/unlocking. Fine and dandy. Suddenly the VTR door refuses to lock. Key won't turn.
Removed the lock to check operation - lock barrel fully operational, proper travel and turns both ways. Refitted to check.

Both interior and exterior handles fully operational and will open doors.
Bar that goes through the tab on the lock barrel will not move.
Door pins will not go up or down, move a few mm but does not operate the lock.

Following this, wiggled the solenoid, would not go down (stuck in open position i.e up)
Removed solenoid with the idea that this was the problem and another one would go straight in and fix the problem.
Removed solenoid, was fine and fully operational.

    SO

For two nights I've emptied the best part of a tin of wd40 onto the mechanism hoping to loosen it up, to no avail.
After having spent time on it, I can more or less see how the mechanism works.

I believe it to be something which I cannot see or reach, the bit with the lever to open the door, I'm assuming the lock is behind this, inside the white plastic casing - I'm just wondering if there's anything I can do to fix it short of buying a new door.

Will post pictures after from phone although most of you know what the mechanism looks like.
Perhaps someone will spot whats wrong!!!

Incorrectly fitted doorcard so it's fowling the door pins?

No door cards on either door Steve.
When holding the top part of the pin clear and the bottom where it connects checking for movement, it just doesn't budge!

    Update

Got in from work and got straight back to it.
Slammed it VERY hard a few times, held the handle open and bumped it... just for good measure.

I removed the solenoid to try and better access the bar it's connected to as I believed this to be the problem.
I then realised, without the solenoid there, the door pin operates from the inside - it will both lock and unlock and the handle functions.
I left the solenoid out to test it on the key, and it now locks and unlocks properly, both on the key and from inside the car.

No real idea what I did, or how long it will last - as I say it was fully functional when I tested it before, but then it had the solenoid and the central locking would all have worked.
I've got no fob for it anyway, so maybe I'll get a pro to have a look at it or have a go at fitting a hawk kit or something similar if I can't deal with locking all the doors manually.

The boot can only be opened from the inside anyway so not that big a deal to lean over and pop then pin in.

If it happens again I suppose I'll buy a new door!
