Disconnecting ECU.

   Hi,might be a stupid question but due to some rust work I need to disconnect the ECU to give me some space,is it okay to just disconnect it with the battery disconnected as well or is there any precaution to take? Many thanks.

   should be fine.. theres no guarantee it will be. but theres no reason it shouldnt.. siome cars do occasionally spazz out but its not something that happens for a reason

   No problem at all, beyond some versions that hold fault codes and adaptations in volatile RAM will lose that data, which is no big deal beyond it may idle a bit off while it re-adapts.
   
   Most ECUs hold the data in a non-volatile serial EEPROM which won't be lost.
