Temperature Warning light

Ok so I'm a new Saxo owner so forgive me if I sound stupid. The red temp warning light comes on after only 5 mins of driving and then the radiator will kick in. Could this be a problem with sensor. Could an ECU reset possibly sort this out.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Low water level,or an air lock.Or a water leak.

Thanks for the reply. Do you mean a leak with the coolant

Ok I just found my MOT certificate and on the advisories it says coolant leak. So could this be the cause of my problem and how easy is it to fix.. Sorry to sound so stupid.

Either be a leaking radiator or coolant pipe. More likely to be the radiator has rusted away and is leaking. Normally find towards the bottom of the radiator most times.

Be easy to track the leak by getting underneath and looking for a wet area. Coolant has a funny smell/taste.

You can sometimes use a radweld type product to seal it but I find they only mask the issue. It may come back at a future date when your in the middle of nowhere leaving you strandard so for the price to replace the faulty part and bleed the system I would do that.

Loads of guides on here how to do it if you search.

Easiest way,is to get the cooling system pressure tested at a garage(cheap to do)That will tell you where it's leaking from.
