Question about cooling system

Hi all, just joined and my first post. Just usually a lurker. I had a new rad fitted yesterday. Oh the troubles that were had with it. Anyway, I finally got my car back and noticed the temp was running at half way. Which I was told was fine and normal. But I know before the new rad it was usually at 1/4 on the gauge. I also noticed that the heater was warmer and blew warmer quicker than the 15 or so minutes I used to have to wait. Now, it probably is fine. But being a female..... I'm just a worried as I know what it was like before and change makes me nervous. I had the car running for like 30 minutes and it never went over half way. Am I just worrying for no reason? Mainly worried that due to the temp saying half way and heater working quicker they didn't bleed properly? Can you please set my mind at rest 😁

When I didnt bleed my rad properly many moons ago, the heaters were utterly rubbish, hardly any heat at all due to airlocks.

If the heaters are working fine and the gauge is sitting roughly where it should, Id say its fine.

    sounds Fixed to me.

Running at half way on the gauge is fine, normally around 90 degrees.
What's the reason your radiator what changed? Guessing it was leaking meaning it could either run too hot or to cold due to not building pressure.

    Thanks for the reassurance.

Never had a problem with the rad. Then one day popped to B&Q and as I came out I saw a puddle under my car. I touched it and knew it was coolant. The rad was leaking somewhere. I was going to put K Seal in it as it was at an alarming rate. It had always sat at around 1/4 temp so that's why I was worried. I will keep an eye on it. I know they couldn't open the nipple in the middle near the thermostat? But the others were done fine.

Not always a suspect radiator on a saxo, often the water jacket at the rear of the engine can leak.

The nipple at the thermostat is made of brass and can often seize in place. If it starts overheating then you might have an airlock in the thermostat housing. Will need to open that nipple somehow.
