i have a ripped rubber boot on my steering rack ,not the track rod end.
can anyone tell me how easy it is to unbolt the thing on the end so i can get a new boot on.i can see the torx bolt , but it does look like it could be well stuck.and if i do replace the boot does any oil or grease go in there.
    thanks for any help.

best bet would probably be to put the front end on axle stands to relieve any pressure that might be on the rack, the torx bolts aren't usually too difficult to undo just make sure you have a good quality bit that fits well, undo that and it will slide off the end with a bit of wiggling giving you access to replace the boot then just slide it back over and you should be fine, I'm unsure on what type of grease would be best though..

If you mean the corrugated gaiter then you don't need to unbolt the rack but you will need to unbolt the track rods and remove the inner track rod ends. Then its a case of unbolting the end of the rack to allow access to the gaiter. There's not a lot of room to do things back there so you'll have to remove the air filter .
