Sold rear axle advice

  1. #1
Hi sold my rear axle off the car as was breaking it.

It was rebuilt in the past by previous owner and passed mots ok since I have had the car. It also sat fine as well so I thought was all ok.

The buyer has sent me some photos saying it is no use and is shot.

I'm going to refund him in full £150 so I'm taking the £50 hit on the courier as well

Before I do this can i confirm this is done in ?

    Thanks

Well,it's kind of hard to see from the pictures due to dirt but in the first picture at the top that shiny part where the bearing run on is normal, though if you can feel any groove with your finger then I wouldn't fit it,if so it might still be possible to make it serviceable with larger aftermarket bearings which also work on the "new" surface where the old factory bearings don't use.

If I were you I would try and clean it up well to asses the surface on the pins,to be honest I'm not 100% sure but the 1st picture it even looks okay, then again it's hard to judge by not being there in person, usually should look like this:

Have you had any chance to test if the trailing arms had any play before selling it?

Thats pure fucked mate. The surface has to be perfectly smooth.

    Thanks will get him refunded.

All seemed fine to me before I sent it away but no reason to think he would be liein to me.

Note to myself is don't sell a saxo axle again lol.
