Saxo VTR starts but won't run

Engine has always run well but lately it has started to slow and eventually stop as if affected by fuel starvation. I replaced the fuel pump with a second hand unit and the car ran well until a day ago when it started failing shortly after starting. The engine dies to a very slow and erratic tickover and won't respond to the accelerator.

Seems that the pump pressurises sufficiently to start and the engine runs well for a short time. Seems an electrical relay problem. I'd appreciate member's ideas.

I would recommend you to ask any professional rather then asking members here because there are few members those who haven't face these issues and if they could give you wrong advice then it would be very costly and may be confused you.

Did you swap the fuel filter? I'd probably try another pump to be fair

I'd recommend you'd keep your comments to yourself matey, there are plenty of mechanics on here & plenty of clued up people. To the oap take the fuel pump out give it a tap with a rubber mallet/hammer,if it works then that's what's wrong a faulty pump.

That is the best advise ever. God knows how using forums ever saved any one money. After all not many people on here own saxos or have owned a saxo never mind working on them for the past few years.

What the fuck do we know!!

The other thing to check is coil pack, ht leads and spark plugs. No spark no go.
