VTS oil leak - help!

    Hey folks,

I've got an oil leak from the head of my VTS. I'm going to redo the gasket seal on the rocker covers, but this may be a really dumb question - what's the bottom seal? Has it got lower and upper rocker gaskets? it can't be the head gasket surely?

That's the base of the cam ladder.

So it's Head Gasket, then the head goes down, then sealer, then cam ladder, then sealer, then camshaft covers. It's rare the lower ones leak, 9 times out of 10 just doing the top one properly will fix a leak from there.

Don't overtighten the rocker covers. I think the setting is 20Nm. Any more and you bend the rockers and you end up with "blah blah cry cry my rockers won't seal after new sealant I want C2 covers" etc

Ahh okay I see, thanks for that. Reckon I should just clean it up and seal the rocker cover then, and keep an eye on the lower one?

    Aye do that.

You need to take the cams out etc to do the lower one.

Sounds like a plan. I'm getting the cambelt/water pump done on it next month so if the lower one does turn out to be leaking, i'll get the mechanic to do it at the same time.
