Airbox part

    Hi folks,

picked up standard airbox parts to put back on the VTS, the car when I bought it came with an MTC elbow and an open cone on it. Parts arrived and also came with an unexpected pipercross panel filter, so all in all a decent ebay find.

Got it fitted and happy with it, however there seems to be an O ring or similar missing - it goes on the pipe which the resonator then sits on top of, to locate it snugly in the bottom of the resonator. I can probably bodge something up but just wondered if anyone knew what the part is supposed to be ?

I have seen the exploded diagram and it doesn't show anything, however I have it on good authority that there should be one, also it really doesn't locate properly as it is - just sits there without anything close to a seal, which can't be right?

    Cheers
    Craig

PS - after a bit of reading where most people seem to suggest binning it and adding a direct cold feed to the airbox, I also found this article (linked below) which claims to explain / justify the reason for such a device. Not saying it is accurate, however it does make sense and I guess in the end either you believe that PSA designers designed it / tested it / proved it in terms of it's function, or that they just whacked it on for noise reduction. Who knows. I plan on retaining the full standard intake now, just with panel filter replacement and see how I find the car.

There is no O-Ring in there, there's no groove for one to sit properly. the diesel has similar push fit joints on it. They fit snug when they're new but over time they get a bit loose. Just wrap a bit of insulating tape around it.

That's exactly how the resonator works in that link. It'll probably affect part throttle efficiency but it's not going to be anything noticeable unless you're in a lab!
