Starter motor

   Hi all.
   
   I changed my starter motor yesterday. It’s starts fine but when I release the key on start up the engine cuts out. Any ideas please?

   Check your wiring.

   Do you think that’s what it could be? Not ECU or anything major like that?

   Yep. As soon as the key snaps back. It was fine before I replaced the starter motor. ? If I hold the key forward it remains running.

   How is it possible? If you keep the key pressed forward while running starter will grind with flywheel. Did you clean all the connections to the starter motor and the battery ?<br><br>Sent from my VFD 510 using Tapatalk<br><br>

   It is still engaging the starter motor while I holed the key forward. I’ll clean all the connections. It’s just seems odd and annoying as I am stuck with my car.

    It wouldnt hurt to check the health of the battery too. Do a voltage drop test. If you have a voltmeter put the leads on the battery and watch how much the voltage drops when turning the key. It shouldnt drop below 10v<br><br>Sent from my SM-T560 using Tapatalk<br><br>

    There's two wires that connect to two different posts you sure you wired it up the way it was before?

    The starter motor has a constant 12v feed no matter where the key is? Any ideas please

    Starter has a permanent live from the battery, the other goes to the ignition for obvious reasons

    Arrgg i just raked through my pictures and noticed i have been giving shit advice. there are three wires going to the starter on two posts. the taller post should have the Battery live and another black cable on it and the shorter post should have the Blue or green wire on it. i am guessing you have the black and the blue/green on the same short post, i think the black wire is the power feed for the ecu so its getting power while you crank the car but once you release the key it loses power and the car stops.
