I had to grind this part down (where the grey primer is) as it was rubbing against the steering arm,will this cause any problems? Thanks for the help.

I'm stil in time until steering rack tears apart
Think it's very close,is that sort of plug used to fix the the pinion in place? Is it screwed in?

Dont know, sometimes when things are being manufactured you need to make holes in the part to create internal feature so gets bunged afterwards, there might be a bush or a bearing behind it if its not leaking oil who cares.
