does teh 306 GTi 6 fit the saxo!?

or what is teh thickest you can get that will fit a saxo form a standard car!??
  2. #2
id also like to know this
  3. #3
i would of thought the 306 would be wider so il guess no
  4. #4
to wide, not sure on thickest you can fit but you wouldnt need to go beyond 24mm
  5. #5
you woudnt need to go beyond 21mm
  6. #6
ok so the question now is wot car has 24 or 25mm bar standard so i can call scrappies for one...!
  7. #7
are you on about arb's or torsion bars
  8. #8
ok so the question now is wot car has 24 or 25mm bar standard so i can call scrappies for one...!

your getting mixed up with ARBs and torsion bars there.

if you go for thicker torsion bars you will need hardeer front springs and faster dampers aswell.
  9. #9
    im getting billies soon!

i mean ARB i think! explain the difference please!! i want a stiff ass!! LMBO!!
  10. #10
torsion bars act liek a spring working on the vertical foces.

ARB stops therear of the car leaning into corners as much, a thicker ARB will also make the car turn-in to a corner quicker.
  11. #11
    so i want a 25mm ARB!? & a ??? torsion bar!?
  12. #12
    anti roll bar
  13. #13
but you could also get thicker torsion bars, you would also need matched front springs.
  14. #14
25mm arb is nearly 200 or like i think you meant to say you were after a 24mm arb of a gti or phase 2 rallye from the scrappy costing little.
  15. #15
ALl had the same tickness torsion bars as standard. Torsion bars are 400quidish. Worth it? Fuck yeah
  16. #16
    25mm arb is nearly 200

    £130 delivered.

dave - have what torsion bars are on yours?
  17. #17
22mm, still pliant enough for road use. 23mm is the most I think pugsport do, though I've seen a stockihatch with 30mm custom bars, must be stiff as fuck
  18. #18
30mm??? they may aswell of replaced the dampers with steel bars.
  19. #19
Pretty much, actually, hasn't Zimsounds on the SSC just whelded his back end up to support an ICE install?

30mm need to be tapered to fit into the sockets. For my money 22mm is fine, the back end will swing out quickly enough as is
  20. #20
his car is just a show car or something i think though.
  21. #21
    yeah, it never gets driven
  22. #22
so wot i need is a GTi or S2 ARB? what is the thickness of the standard VTR ARB!?? and wot thickness torsion bar?? i want it to stick like glue! Im purchasing gas filled billies for her also soon.
  23. #23
some have 19.5mm some have 21mm, ARBS.
  24. #24
ah i se so teh GTi 24mm is a great improvment already then!!

any advise on a rear end set up using standard parts!?

GTI ARB & what torsion bar is ideal to use??
  25. #25
all the same, you will have to go aftermarket to get thickerr bars.
  26. #26
yup, recon on about 400 notes for torsion bars, plus fitting
  27. #27
or you could rob them of daves car if its back in th UK yet?
  28. #28

  29. #29

  30. #30

  31. #31
indeed, I miss it but that said its not getting any more miles on it while its there.
  32. #32
Its already got them Its getting a massive wash, a new amp and loads of treats when it gets back
  33. #33
a new amp??? you ICE whore!!!! lol
  34. #34
Interesting thread as im overlooking my suspension setup at the moment also.

Currently my car is on bilstein sprintline shocks with the ventura(SP) springs. 40mm all round.

Im planning to get a 21mm torsion bar, the ARB should be fine im guessing as its a standard GTi one?

My problem is the front suspension is sounding really bad over bad bumps in the road, is sounds like its hitting the bumper stops! Is there anyway around this at all? Possibly more stiff front springs? Any info would be much appreciated!

    i dont pay for fitting!
  36. #36
rushy what poundage are your springs? youll prob wanna stiffen them up with upgrading your torsion bar anyway.
  37. #37
Not 100% sure mate as i just got them with the package (bilsteins come with the ventura springs)

If the bumps in the road sound so bad does that possibly suggest the springs are not stiff enough when working with the stiffer springs?
  38. #38
the springs that come in the kit are weedy as fuck, best to sack them off for a set of customs
  39. #39
180lb springs with 21mm bars do a good combo make I'm told

Plan has always been to create the best daily driver so some ICE improvement was necisary. It appears that my original speaker look is fucked so if I'm ripping that out I may as well uprate the amp
  41. #41
    Just a few questions mate.

Would that be a good setup combined with bilstein sprintline shocks also?

Where abouts can you get custom ones from?

Can you get that same poundage (180lbs) at 40mm or does it have to be of certain ride height?
  42. #42
Falkner springs are the place for customs, 30mm would be ideal but I think 40mm would be doable, torsion bars are pug sport in france. May be able ot hunt some out on ebay/used rally car parts websites
  43. #43
So wot ppl are pritty much agreed on is that a GTi ARB & 180lb springs with billies is a good set up!??
  44. #44
    Yes, its not bad
  45. #45
ill be havin it then! LOL

Next question 180lbs springs... where from & est ££ i got Gmax at the mo... poo!!
