Panel Filters...

  1. #1
    I'm looking at getting a panel filter for my VTR - It's a MK2 so it's the 98BHP model.

I'm not arsed about an induction kit, so I was wondering what are the advantages and disadvantages of getting a panel filter?

How much am I looking to pay?

Will it improve performance and MPG?

    Which one to get?

    Thanks.

Get a Green. £30-£40. Should flow a little more air and improve your car a little.

Induction kits suck anyway. Unless its the Green Enclosed but the panel filter will be fully enclosed and not suffer from heat soak.

k&n and green are 2 that come to mind

    will improve airflow

dont see any diff in mpg

will see increase in MPG and very tiddly performance increase.

    Go green, what i've got.

    Cheers for advice.

I'm not fussed about more MPG to be honest, it's pretty good anyway. I just want to increase and get better air flowing through the car.

Thats another reason I don't want an Induction Kit because of them just sucking air and if you want a decent fully enclosed one you are talking quite a bit of money.

Can you just wash panel filters and put them back in when servicing?

I wouldn't fancy washing a paper filter, get the hoover to it if you don't wanna splash out the few £ on a new one

I didn't have a clue what panel filters are made out of, hence why I asked the question.

I'm not bothered at paying for new ones, just wondered.

    You can buy cleaner fluid from halfrauds for naff all mate, and the panels last for ages anyway. Heres the green one;

Filled the tank up on Friday night, so managed to squeeze in 44 litres. Hehe.

despite the interweb sites being competitive i found that the shit bank of MOTORWORLD actually gave me the best price. after considering the delivery costs + everything else they came out best

Not sure if it applies to the common as muck VTR's but mine had to be specially made. may delay things slightly which makes going to Motorworld even more credible.

    Cheers

I have the chance to buy my old Pipercross Viper back, let's just say I am very tempted...

I think it would work better with the VTR than it did the Westie.
