Dastek Unichip cost?

  1. #1
Simple really, how much does the dasket cost, including fitting and setting up?

Also when I replace my cam for a 285 I know that I will get a lumpy idle untill I remap but how about the rest of the rev range? Will it be ok to drive or do I need to get them done at near enough the same time?

I know that the get the best out of the cam I need a remap.

    Thanks,

    Fred

Well I think it was £280 I got quoted from them but then you have to go to one of their special rolling road centres to get it set up properly so your looking at an extra few hundred im guessing on top

it cant raise RPM limit either.

    Dastek = £600 i was told

£450 from dastek itslef inc mapping + fitting

Ill phone them today, rather than all this guessing malarkey! Thanks for the help!

im not guessing, i was going to get 1 but i cannot see any benefit over an OE ecu remap.
i had 1 but then sold it.

    unit it £250 + 200 for fitting + mapping.
why do you want a dastek though?

Spose Dastek is better in the long run if your planning on changing your car specs, replacing cams, pistons, n shit.

but a ecu remap is better if your spec is staying as it is and no other mods like camshafts are going to be added as you will then have to get your car re-mapped again. Dastek can be alter acording to what you have

    Hope that makes sense

it doesnt make sense, for both you only pay for time on the rollers to have it remapped again.

That idle sounds lush, coulda done with a few shots of throttle pedal..
  12. #12
what power did yours make then stiffler?
  13. #13
Even with a slightly dodgy idle, will it be ok further up the rev range?
  14. #14
yeah, but chipwizards normally get a good idle,
  15. #15
fred are you going for a real 285 cam
  16. #16

as a piper 285 is not 285 degrees
  19. #19
haha really? whats the actualy duration of it then? I was thinking more along the lines of a kent cam.
  20. #20
the duration is 26 something. bit confusing but piper decided to name them like that. a piper 300 is a real 285.
an actual 285 requires further mods to fit them so which ever you choose kent, piper or cat it will be 26 something degrees.
  21. #21
Ah ok, so what is the real duration of a 270 then? Is this the same for all cars and all cam makes?
  22. #22
its only the piper that are confusing. if you meaning piper 270 it will be 250 or roundabouts. if you go on to there website it will tell you. kents are named pt 50 pt 51 pt 52 etc. all will say next to them what degree they are when order them. equivelent of a piper 285 is a pt51
