Single Box Exhaust

  1. #1
Im look in to change my Janspeed Cat Back exhaust and fancy a straight through exhaust from my sports cat back to a single back box.

Is anyone here got a straight through exhaust? Has anyone had any trouble with real loses in performance with a setup like this because of I read a twin box system is better for back pressure but surly the sports cat acts like a box so . . .

    Thanks

Fancy a Spoon N1 back box. its about 68mm/2.5" with a rolled lip and Ive seen loads on Civic Type-Rs and sounds fantastic. I no a VTS is no VTEC but might still sound good plus it be nice to see a smaller tail pipe rather than massive dustbins

    Thanks guys

Ive got an old Honda that me and my girlfriend use to run about in to save the mileage on the VTS and we've been to a few Jap car shows, Id seen this Exhaust before on a few New Civic Type-Rs and really liked the style of the rolled 2.5" tailpipe and the sound which is Fantastic! ! !

    Spoon Sports N1 Exhaust

Its not cheap at about £250 just for the back box! but Ive desided thats the way Im going. Gona get a centre section fabricated to join the back box to my sports cat and Bobs your uncle. I miss the poppin and fartin of a straight through exhaust so Im kissin my Janspeed goddbye for some Spoon Sports action

Take a look at link to see and here what it could sound like:

I was speaking to powerflow and was told that duplex exhaust actually is power loss and doesnt help with performance, If you want performance and sound stick with one sided backbox, Im going for 4" Single, or 3" Twin

Btw Recovery, Ive got nothing against Duplex Exhausts

I don't want to burst anyones bubble but a Saxo with a Spoon exhaust will not sound like it would do if it was going on a Civic.

The B16 engines are very "loud" engines if you get what im saying and they expell a certain exhaust note that other engines can't reproduce.

Im quite aware that a 2.0ltr VTEC will give quite a different note to a Twin Cam 1.6ltr Saxo but the smaller box at the back with no other boxes apart from the sports cat will give a different note to a larger Can.

Plus the tail pipe is quite low key and will very different to the majority of Saxo exhausts so Im going for it.

    Good point tho :-)

For sure it will sound sexual!

Ive got a single box 2" boresystem and de-cat and a Scorpion backbox which is shite because its got too much baffle in it. Jap exhausts seem to have less so you have a very good idea my friend!

    Keep me updated!
