Hey everyone. i was just wondering if anyone knew what piping you use with it. does the standard piping fit? or do you get different piping when you buy it for a saxo?? i got a vtr mk2.

    thanks a lot

    hi mate,

when u buy a bmc kit u get a pipe with it, however u will need 2 chop the pipe in half 2 put either side of the filter.

the jubilee clips u get will do the job of joining the pipes.

watch out for imitation kits tho. if it costs less than £150, they aint carbon fiber.

the real one is well worth the price. happy fitting

its an open filter, just like buying a k&n 57i kit or piperx kit,if open is what you want...
  12. #12
to be honest im not sure about induction kits aint got a clue,

all i no is some add a bit of noise and suck preformance, which is what i dont want,

whats the best one around for a reasonable price?

    sorry for the thread hijack
  13. #13
any open filter aint what you want then,e.g. k&n57i kit piperx or the one you have showed
you want an enclosed filter (which wont lose performance)
k&n pipercross and bmc all do enclosed filters
k&n called typhoon iirc, pipercross are called viper kits and bmc are cda enclosed kits
bmc is the only thing i would buy (and have)

will a vts bmc be the same as a bmc for a vtr? got a friend who i may be able to sell one to me.... but its on a vts.
  19. #19
the halfords one isnt a open filter it just a cheaper material hence not carbon fibre but is still enclosed in plastic its called a DIA instead of CDA
  20. #20
I got mine from Larkspeed dont get the Halfords one its a cheap universal one.
  21. #21
A BMC from a vts should fit ok, it may only be the piping that may need changing (to fit a vtr), but the filter element is universal.

Whatever you do, definately get a BMC, ok they're not as loud as an open filter. But they won't take in hot engine bay heat like an open filter will. It's a direct cold air feed so will gain a little power.

BMC CDA Filters are pretty universal. The CDA70-130 model fits the 1.4 8v, 1.6 8v (VTR) and the 1.6 16v (VTS)

They will probably fit the 1.1s too but im not positive.

The problem wouldnt be with the airbox though. It would just mean u need to source the correct reducer hose to go from the throttle body to the air filter

EDIT: too slow, but there u go - 2 people have said the same thing

where can i get some good cheap hosing?

Try the filter first and see if it fits, iv never had a VTR but i cant imagine there being much difference.

You want silicone hoses to go from the throttle body to the filter. If you know the measurements your after then eBay or some of the motorsposrt are a good place to start.

There are alot of brands offering silicone hosing hopefully someone can post some links because i cant remember any off the top of my head. Samco and Demon-somthing spring to mind though.

I tried fitting the bmc from the vts to my vtr it was way to big and would not fit you would need a smaller battery for it to fit snuggly the vtr one went straight in not bother at all

I just checked this onthe bmc website. They list the CDA70-130 unit for 1.4 8v, VTR and VTS.

The model name for the filter actually tells you a bit about the diametere of the engine outlet, and the overall size od the filter housing.

    CDAD1-D2

So in the saxos case (CDA70-130) the filters should all be 130mm in diameter, which suggests the one you tried on wasnt acctually for a saxo stiffler, either that or your battery is much too big

Yes i do beleive this could of been the case all it said on the filter was a code thing and 1.6 16v so i may of just assumed it was for a vts and may of been for a different car the shop changed it for me no problem and gave me the correct filter
