How To - Fit Clio Window Seals (protect your tints!)

  1. #1
right as a lot of people know the saxo window seals scratch your window tints when you put the window up or down, and then they look crap so heres how to fit clio window seals in your motor to stop this happening.

u will need, torx screwdrive, flat head screwdriver, saw, tape measure and 4x clio window seals out of a boxy shape clio 2 for each window

put down the window on you starting door and remove the door card by removing the two torx screws 1 in the door handle and 1 under the wing mirror or there abouts and then prise off the card and disengage from the seal. be careful not to snap the plastic clips that hold the door card on while doing this.

i also pulled the wing mirro adjuster and cover off to help

next step prise off the saxo window seal i used a large flat head screwdriver to get the 1 end up and then ripped it off, for the more gentle do that all the way along.

now you have got it off u wil see that the clio seals are too short

u need to use 2 seals to 1 door the seals have a slight angle on them where they fit the clio door so i cut this off so it was square

now fit this and you will see you have about a 6" gap to the end of the door frame

i cut the new seal at the appropriate length to fit the gap

and then fitted this and thats it done, replace the door card and then repeat from the other side

u may aswell remove the door pins while you are at it, mine were done a while ago but it adds to the security while the door card is off

hope this helps sum1 :Y:maybe a mod could make it a sticky?

Cheers for the rep back mate. Got me another blob lol. Do the Clio ones stop the gay water smudging you get after you wash your car too, eg whne you wind the window down or up it gets covered in streaks.

i dont know to be honest mate, ill tell you next time i do it, they are felt instead of plastic so i dunno they might do, theyre worth it though i think if u plan to get tints in the future or have them now id get em in
  7. #7
Yea i will get this done on my next sax. I know it pisses a lot of people off inculdin me when they streak so that would be a bonus. Cheers agen

Some Clio seals fit perfectly... Some are too long... Some are too short.

Maybe a link to this thread could be put in my thread here although I've given instructions on how to fit them.
  10. #10
what mark clio did you get them from mate?
  11. #11
dunno what mk mate 1 of the boxy 1's was an n reg 1 i think
  12. #12
N-reg ones should be fine... It's more of a case of trial and error. If they don't fit, they'll only be slightly out to which you can make the necessary adjustments.
  13. #13
n reg 1's i got were 6" out hence why i cut them to size, but it has made no difference whatsoever to how they work, i can get me mackys now without scratchin em lol

  17. #17
i got mine from a p reg 3 door all u have to do is shape the ends and they fit well no line down the middle looks better
  18. #18
NIce guide never seen this before. Did u all go to a scrappy to get them?
  19. #19
i went to the shop and payed £40 for the pair
  20. #20
You went to a shop!?! Eeeek!

Just go to a scrappy. Any ones from the older (Clio Williams shape) should fit. In some cases, they can be a little too long. If so, cut them down. I had to take an inch off my last ones. I bought four seals for £5 from my local scrap yard. The problem if you buy them direct from Renault is that they're unable to sell you the bottom strip on its own. They can "only" sell you the whole set (i.e. bottom, sides and top) and they work out at around £40 each side, so £80 altogether.
