Steering Wheel

How hard is it to change a steering wheel for a sportier looking one...does anybody know any good 'How To's' on this??

Bit worried about what i need (apart from a new steering wheel) and the airbag!

    Thanks

    pretty easy matey:

To be ultra safe disconnet battery for half an hour to discharge any airbag capacitors and stop it going off (pretty unlikely)
Remove steering column covers top and bottom
From memory 2 torx screws behing the wheel that hold airbag in
remove air bag unit and unplug
Line steering wheel up straight, undo large torx bolt (i think its a T50) and pull wheel off (good way of doing it is to just loosen the bolt a little then jerk on wheel as it can be tough to remove, this way once its loose you can still ine up wheel)
put new boss on and refit torx bolt
bolt new wheel to boss and done

I laughted wen my girlfriend bought me the Max Power Haynes manual . . . But its been very helpfull in matters like the one above.

I wanted to fit a decent wheel, disapointed my VTS didnt come with leather wheel but anyway . . . If you disconect the AirBag unit the AirBag light will come on and stay on which will fail a MoT. In the Max Power Haynes it shows you clearly how to solve the problem.

Like Homer done in the Simpsons, Stick tape over the light :-o
    I kid you not!

4 £15 it also shows how to fit buckets (not very clearly, to be honest) along with loads of other very usefull stuff. well recommended just don't tell ur mates u've got anythin with the Max Power name on it :-P
