Engine change ?

    Basically ive got a 98 Vtr, and have been offered a Vtr engine from a 2003 vtr for very cheap. What would be involved in carrying out the change ??

    out & in! with all relivant ojimee thingies like loom, ecu etc etc

    you will need a mk2 exhaust as the cats in the manifold on the new engine
    think you need to move the fan aswell as im sure the oil filter will catch on it

    and you will need to wire it up to

    need to get the ecu for it aswell

    id try getting the same engine so you can just take out and put straight in

    westy- out and in???? dont think so mate. engine multi plugs are different and make sure you get hoses etc from the mk2 engine, plus as paul said above.

    dont do it mate lol.im stuck with a car thats not moved for over 3 month tranna put mk2 vtr engine in a mk1.all wiring is a twat to do,think ive given up

    its just that my engine has done 75000 miles, needs a clutch, cambelt and tensioner, and ive been offered the engine box, all complete with ECU ect for £150. The engines only got 21000 on aswell. Think im still going to do it tho.

    Yer one of my good mates, smashed his car, but engine was fine. Theres nothing wrong with my car really, just when you get an offer like that you cant turn it down.
