mk1 saxo molded gearstick

   ayt i got a mk1 with a molded gearstick is there away to take it off to put a better one on ?

   yes, put the car into third. Put one leg either side of the gear stick and pull like hell.

   As above... But if going to put another one on you will need to break to plastic bit off that is inside the gearnob

   i didnt have the white plastic clip thing on mine, dont know why!

   I just trimmed the top off of mine so that the original gearstick would still go on if I needed it to.

   break it off with pliers or do like scott and cut just the tip off so if you ever want to put the original back on you can

    it's hard to explain you know it's got a thik bit at the top of the stick once the black thing is off you can see it, it's that what i want off

    saw the top off so that your aftermartket one fits on and you're original one will fit back on if needed.

    go at it with a toolbox and prise it off. (you'll have to wrap the stick in soemthing so that the aftermarket knob has something to grip onto if you do it this way)

    ah right so it is the white (was on mine) bit that holds the gearnob in. I ended up cutting mine out altogether. i made a bit of a mess but it all came out. if you have either one of the little saws or a pair of wire cutters it may be easier.
