PORT & PoLISHED HEAD

  1. #1
    Hi people.
i asked a good friend of mine last night if he would port & polish my vts head for me. he is an F1 mechanic for mercades in NORTHAMPTON so knows his engines! i was buzzin when he told me how much he would do it for. so i said i might know a few thousand saxo owners that might want it doing if he wants to make a bit of extra cash. he said "why Not"!!!

now it will be a few weeks yet before he could do any and he said that YOU will have to match your inlet maifold with the ports and your manifold with the exhaust ports after but he will do it for £100 BARGAIN!!!

the reason it will be a few weeks is cause he has syatica which is a slipped disk in his back and he has just had the operation. he said he cant do mine yet either till the old back is a bit better but he said to put a post up and see if anyone would be interesteed!

he's done lots of bike heads and a few cars ill let you know what i think when mines done

but as i say would anyone be interested when his baqck is better?

It is very interesting mate and also at an amazing price.

But see my only concern is im only trusting you from word of mouth (no offence or anything)
Once Ive got my brakes and suspension done my car is planned to be taken to Longmans Tuning for a bit of 'tinkering'
Now I am taking it there because of their great reputation known by many.

Paying £100 for a port and polish is amazing, but at the same time what assurance do you get with that. Yes he may be a F1 Mechanic but I have no facts to fall on.

Im not having a go at you and its not because I dont believe you (tbh it probably is the real deal), but I just dont like the idea of skimping out on money on something.
Most times that ive gone down the cheap route it always ends up in tears, so would rather still pay 100s if you know what i mean lol.

Just trying to explain it from my point of veiw thats all matey. Would be great to know the outcome once yours is done!

This does seem a deal but I agree with what Rushy is saying.

How long would this lad need my head for and how do I sort out the inlet manifolds etc myself?
  5. #5
a couple of days. if you want you can wait till iv had my cams fitted and see what the rolling road comes out at with the port & polished head! then you'll have proof! ill take some pics too!

Sounds like a good idea Spencer, get some facts and figures first then everyone will come rolling in.
  7. #7
Yeah let us know cheers spencer.
  8. #8
Agreed, Figures would help as im also interested.
  9. #9
so where you getting it mapped?
  10. #10
not sure yet. there is a place called street racers near me that have just had a £100 000 rr and want £350 to do it so might go and quiz them to make sure its not just a generic map like a superchip.

otherwise it looks like im taking a trek to chipwizards!

    i told you. lol
    youve gotta go chipwizards

most mk1 vts's get between 155-160 with a spec like:

    enclosed induction,
    4,2,1 manifold,
    de-cat,
    straight thru centre
    backbox,
    708's
    & remap

iv not heard of many people having the vts port & polished but thats just me!
so with my spec im hoping to get a bit more!
spac as follows at the mo:

    relocated piper-x,
fog light cold air feed 4" dia,
    ported & polished throttle body,
    supersprint heatwrapped 4-2-1 manifold,
    magnex decat,
    standard centre,
    powerflow backbox,

    Whats to come:

catcams 708's (sat next to me right now!!!)
port & polished head done within next 3 wks
simota twista/ bmc very soon (so i can use the fog light c/a feed),
decent cat back system like magnex or omp before x-mas,
remap when iv got them all either just before x-mas or just after when i got some $$$

what do ya think? anything i can change to get better power that seems good enough to get 160bhp to me!
  13. #13
youve also got to consider people who have 155-160 are mapped at chipsw so it might be different elsewhere
  14. #14
yer i know. i know there good too but that doesnt mean that everywhere else is runnish does it mate? ya could probably go somewhere else that have never been heard of and get a remap better than chipwizards! i aint no pushover though i'll want proff before i part with £350!!! lol

here are some pics of the foglight cold air feed!
  15. #15
Like the air feed, looks very smart and subtle. Not too keen on the Viper Air Feeds with that nasty red circuit you see on some cars. Too attention seeking.

You have done yours perfect mate.
  16. #16
yer it took me about 3 hours. smashed the glass out and fillerd the inside so it was a slope guiding air into the ducting then i sprayed it black and moulded the ducting on with that P40 fibre glass mix
  17. #17
o yer i meshed it too to stop any leaves and paper and stuff getting into the engine bay
  18. #18
i meant if you go on someone elses rollers you might be showing less or power power than people who have been rollered somewhere else when you want to compare

ill see what difference my headwork has made next week at pod
  19. #19
what you had donre mate? have you heard of this place in leicester?
  20. #20
it was me that told you about the place in a thread a while back. all ive been told they have a great setup but they dont know what there doing with it, thats what i was told so i cant comment otherwise. im noy pushing chipw on you, im not on commision but for the sake of 100 quid and some hassle youve got piece of mind going there.
my head has been ported, polished, skimmed, 3 angle valve seats.
  21. #21
    nice!!!
  22. #22
Spencer are you the one doing the service on the t/b's?
  23. #23
    yes mate thats me!
