Do You Need Lambada Sensors

  1. #1
Ive Got An Ashley Manifold, And Ive Bent One Of The Lambada Sensors, Not Blowing Or Ewt Just Engine Managment Light On, Will This Be Affecting Power, Because Of A Faulty Sensor, Or Does It Not Matter Because Its Decatted. For Some Reason My Vtr Being Dicky With Power, Sometimes Its Fast(for A Vtr) N Sometimes Its Running Slow. Could That Be To With I Have A Open Filter Or The Fact Of Faulty!! Help Would Be Greatfull!! Cheers Boys N Gals

These days modern engines need quite alot of detailed information on a number of things to not only give optium performance but more and more these days to do with correct emissions. The Lambada sensor takes a Oxigen reading from inside the Manifold and sends a reading to the ecu which adjusts the mixture to control emissons which in the pusuit of more power aint so important but when it comes to MoT time it is. As to if a damaged Lambada sensor will affect overall performance Im not sure but I would replace the item to be on the safe side.

As to a open filters as long as you have agood cold air feed to outside atmosphere then a open filter would not really affect performance like you say unless you hav no cold air feed then you will suffer total heat soak and lose performance.

In short change the sensor then take it from there.

If this was any help why not rep me & someday I could do the same to you :-)

Cheers Pal, Emissions Im Not Arsed We Cause My Mate Will Pass It, And I Aint Even Got A Cat On It So Emissions Dont Matter, Jus Doin Me Head In Wiv This Rather Strange Power Loss Every So Often!!

yes you need the 1st 1.

wat u mean i need the first one!!!

u will deffo need to replace the sensor as it will be running in limp mode if the management lght is on if im right its usually about 15bhp less tahn normal taht wud explain it feeling slow

Yeh Lights On, Nice One Guys! Wernt Sure, Get One Dis Weekend, Light Should Go Of In Theory, If Not If I Just Disconnect From Bat For Ten Min Dat Shud Do It Shunt It!

If the lambda is cunted then sort it right now. Its feeding the ECU a load of crap readings and will actually get worse as the ECU tries to solve the problem. Get it sorted and the light will go out in about 30 miles, if its the first lambda. If its the second and you are running a decat you need to shove the sensor in a nice plastic bag or similar under the car so it doesn't detect that the cat isn't working (which it won't if its been decatted!)

Down by 15bhp, wow thats terrorable. It'll feel like a rocketship once it working how it should do.

Like most things these days on engines, anything that plugs in somewhere doesnt like to be unpluged. In the old days Id be out there for hours tweekin my carb's to get that little extra out but not now :-(

But at least they start (Nearly) everytime now.

mines got a fucked lambda at the moment, its down by about 5bhp at the top end. Bollox to 15bhp on a VTR

rite i got new lambda sensor coming, hopefully friday, so wat you sayin about the second one then, fill the hole with a bolt and stash the lambda sensor in the engine bay or summat with a bag over it, or just leave the second where it is and replace the first sensor!

if ya car is running rich, popping and bangin on tick over, fuel in exhaust etc. the pre cat sensor is shafted! (1st one). this sensor does not control the cars fuelling until the ecu is in closed loop! (fully warmed up) the second sensor determines if the cat is brocken or not! if you have a decat this can be stalked off the side of the exhaust, or put straight into the stream of the gas in the exhaust in the side. if the dash light is on, get the car diagnosed and the light turned off this way! a proper pre cat sensor costs around £80! good luck!

theres already a hole in the manifold, where the second lambada sensor is fitted, so im guessing the only reason the ecu light is on is because i bent the first lambada sensor when i fitted it!! because i couldnt get it out of the hole in the standard manifold, a good hammer came into use so i could the bugger out!!

u don reckon ud be looking at a 15bhp loss then no? car dont no how the hell to fuel with no lamba sensor then again im sure ur 1 of thesse people that thinks a induction kit gives u 15bhp lmao
