Engine rattle

My VTR has slowly developed a rattle, it's always been there but getting worse.
The only way I can describe it is two stones in a tin can sort of thing.

Right, it's there when accelerating and when I let off the throttle and it starts engine breaking.
    It's silent when crusing
    Reverse it's very loud
If I rev the engine when it's stationary I can hear it especailyl when the revs drop.
If I dip the clutch it's still there.

    Any suggestions?
    It's done 70k.

Hmm good one mate, whats the going rate for putting a new clutch in inc. parts as I'm sure after 70k it's times up anyhow.

Do they have a habbit of failing completly or just rattle?

I doubt its the clutch release bearing, if it was the noise would cease upon dipping the clutch (pressing down on the clutch pedal.)
Is the noise there from cold? And once the cars warmed up is the noise still as audible?

mines has a rattle kind of like how u described an am pretty sure its my exhaust, not exactly sure which part though, could be where my downpipe meets the center section. when i push my exhaust up by hand it stops.

Right had the bugger on the ramps today, my center section has split around the join and the rattle is where a baffle from inside it is loose.

ahhh thought it might be the exhaust which means mines is most likely the same thing :Y:

£105, ripped off I know as I could have picked up a second hand center section for pennies, but I needed it done.
