What to do with my VTS?

  1. #1
    Hey all!

I've got my bog standard VTS (W Reg Mk2) and was thinking about chucking in a K&N filter.
Will this do anything in particular, apart from sound nice?
What other simple things can I put in under the bonnet?

    Cheers

the k&n will make a difference performance wise but nothing u would notice

i'm imformed that they sound good though

I have a green enclosed induction kit on mine, (expensive) sounds really nice and the response is slightly better.

I believe the open green kit is much louder, and cheaper!!!

I had a k&n on my VTR, did sound good! But once i went green i'll never go back!

after the air filter, you should change the exaust system, and if you put headers (manifold) with the exaust system, which will require larger and wider exaust pipes , you will get al least 12 bhp total.

i got a pipercross on mine, but gettin a Procomp one soon!

and a magnex exhaust system with a de-cat - sounds very nice, and performance is better - but nothing incredible!

Oh man! From the sounds of things I could spend a grand and only get a small number of horses out of the lil' motor. :'(

Maybe I should stck with it for a while and then finally buy myself an Evo!

Cheers for all the info guys - really appreciate it!

well that the way it is, thats also the fun , you have to work on it for q while slowly and feel the rise of hp.

hi,if u want to feel some change on hp without spending much money, try taking the spark plugs off and re-agesting the space betwen the two metal faces that creat the spark.u could alsow ask a mecanic to hammer the fuel pressure valve +0,5bar.

on the air inlet,u have a metal dividing the air that enters on the stepper motor and the fly,try reducing that metal surface on the fly side...this will make the air enter faster on the inlet...

best increase for money spent is dump the cat ,then a 4-1 and a green kit ,should be over 120@wheels by then ,std is about 95-98@wheels

    John is that the norm??

sounds like a very healthy increase
  12. #12
u wont be gettin a 12bhp change, not from a induction kit lol!!!

maybe 2-3bhp increase maybe, but u will get better response at lower revs... also revving will sound alot smoother.

he said 12bhp with an exhaust system, manifold and induction kit. Still 12bhp+ is probably the most you will get from these mods certainly wouldn't think any more.
  14. #14
ah hehe i mustve read it wrong yeh, u can get max of about 10bhp increase off a full stainless exhaust system i think
  15. #15
yeah so with induction and manifold should be around the 12 mark

and if John said that if i put chip fat in my engine and it would be faster.

    AXSAXOMAN is THE man.
