blocking egr valve and mk1 loom on mk2 16v

hi guys, couple of questions, searched for this but only found lots of arguments about 130bhp vs 120bhp blah blah blah

Whats everyone used to block up the egr valve?

And has anyone used a vts single plug ecu & loom with a 2001 on (3 plug) engine? Any issues with it, different connectors on the sensors etc? I'm doing so cos the engine is in my s2 106 rallye which the single plug loom fits right into (apparently!)

    Cheers

130bhp is a myth. I have seen people weld a small plate over the holt in the block.

Not sure, however the loom will need some serious buthcering to convert the 3 plug end back to 1 plug if it can even be done

You can just rip the EGR off and block the holes. Whelding plates over the holes is the known way IIRC. Using the loom will be fine but a lot of sensors are different and will need swapping. If you have a spare 3 plug loom I'd probably be interested in it

We have a few early VTR engines in at work, could I nick the sensors off and use em for the early VTS loom?

Yeh in theory will have a 3 plug loom spare at the end of it. Ive also got a spare 3 plug late 1.1 loom, looks the same at a glance but not looked in detail.

Trying to find a single plug loom now, been quoted £165 at a different breakers

Fuck me, that said, single plug stuff is always money, no one wants the 3plug anymore!

i've use the earlier single plug ecu and loom from a vtr to wire up the latest 3 plug ecu vtr silvertop engine.just waiting on the ecu to get back to me (a week today as it was delayed again) and then im gunna give it a try at firing up. the loom your after is always knocking about on ebay

custom_vtr, did you have any issues with doing that?

Mine 3 plug ecu has been away being unlocked for over a week now too, luckily I dont need it anymore cos I'm using a single plug! Shocking service tho, it shouldnt take them this long

just had to break a few outer shells on the sensors on the mk1 loom really so they fit in to the points on newer engine.just hoping it will fire up, all a can do is tell ya if it works in a week:thumbup: i'll try post sum pics up this week aswell
oh yeh almost forgot,i'm runing a mk1 vtr throttle body instead of a mk2.due to the sensors all being correct on the mk1 throttle body and its a direct fit onto the mk2
